He/she is a conflictologist who knows how to negotiate, give advice and settle conflicts. A social worker is an expert in social problems of individuals and various groups, who is able to protect their rights and interests. He/she can professionally plan and implement social services at governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as perform an expert role in project management at Ukrainian and international recreational health and recuperation centres and charitable foundations.

The mission of the study programme “Social and Pedagogical Activity” (Master’s Degree) is the formation of applicants' ability to solve complex problems in the field of social work through research and to carry out high-level research, scientific-pedagogical and innovative professional activity; development and advanced training of competitive professionals of the highest level in the field of social work; unlocking the potential of young scientists and promoting their leadership and self-realization.

Results of completion of the study programme: obtaining of knowledge and skills in fundamental and applied courses necessary for competence of Masters in Social Work in domestic and foreign markets.

The successful graduate of the Master’s programme should be able to:

employ innovations when providing social services for the population;
assess a client’s social situation and determine those crisis aspects of this situation which should be corrected by professionals;
create social projects and programmes implemented in the psychosocial, organizational and complex field of social activity;
use the knowledge of innovative pedagogy, projection of the latest educational programs, technological support for the organization of the educational process in the educational institution to solve professional problems;
implement the results of research in the psychosocial, organizational and complex field of social activity;
select and employ the methods of marketing research in professional education and social activity;
build a strategy of his/her activity in order to represent and protect clients’ interests at various institutions and organizations, to coordinate the efforts of the appropriate experts in solving clients’ problems;
to establish communicative relations with governmental and non-governmental institutions, organizations and individuals of various levels etc.

Programme requirements (ECTS credits)

In accordance with the Standard on higher education set for the programme “Social and Pedagogical Activity” (Master’s Degree), 90 ECTS credits are awarded in total. The curriculum incorporates: mandatory courses (40.5 ECTS credits), including course paper (1 ECTS credit) and elective courses (22.5 ECTS credits). Internship - 9 ECTS credits. Master’s thesis - 18 ECTS credits

the ratio of credits between parts of the programme may vary slightly from year to year.

Educational goals of the programme

General goal of the study programme “Social and Pedagogical Activity” (Social Work. Master’s Degree) is formation of a new generation of highly qualified spiritually developed competitive social workers with a creative way of thinking, a systematic vision of social problems, the latest knowledge and technologies, advanced competencies in social work, including socio-pedagogical activities, able to solve complex problems and problems in the social sphere or in learning process that involves research and / or implementation of innovations that are necessary for successful work in Ukrainian and foreign social, educational institutions, public administration, institutions, social protection organizations and the provision of social services.

The programme’s educational goals are designed to:

- professional training of highly qualified spiritually developed competitive social workers with creative way of thinking, systematic vision of social problems, innovative knowledge and technologies, advanced competencies in the field of social work, including socio-pedagogical activities, able to solve complex problems and problems in the social sphere or in learning process, which involves research and / or implementation of innovations that are necessary for successful work in Ukrainian and foreign social, educational institutions, public administration, institutions, social protection organizations and the provision of social services;

- formation of applicants' ability to solve research, management and applied tasks of socio-pedagogical activities;

- training of social workers who freely own and operate the concepts, patterns, principles, concepts that reveal the development of the individual, social group, community, society as a whole and form the professional competence of the specialist;

- formation of future social workers' ability to use innovative methods and technologies in social work and socio-pedagogical activities.
